Girls Minor Team 2012
With the aid of a very strong wind the score was 10-7 to 3-1 at the break. Even with this margin the girls knew Craobh were a very good team to score 3-1 against the strong wind and there would be a lot of work in the second half. Some changes were made to shore the defense and Syls girls wend out to a difficult task in the second half. However they worked extremely hard and finished the stronger team in the second half with the final score Syls 14-11 Craobh Chiaran 4-4. Of the 50 Minor games played in Dublin so far by the 17 teams this season 14-11 was the highest single score so far. This was very good considering every one of the players will be eligible to play again in 2013.
Syls were also without several players on the
night but are very lucky to have many of the older players some who
started in 2005, returning to this team together with a few new ones.
Syls girls are holding their own in this League despite being very
young. They have had three wins one draw and two losses against
Fingallians and Clontarf who are top of the table with strong
experienced Minor teams. Eddie, Ann, and Declan are delighted with the
progress of this team so far in what is a two year plan though Declan
might not be allowed home to visit the family for a while.
