Minor Girls Div 1 & Scoil Iosa Leinster Qtr. Final

After Syls. Minor Girls won the Div 3 Championship in October 2012, we were put into Division 1 for the 2013 Minor League. We felt that we should have been put up into Division 2 again this year for the League, but accepted the County Board’s decision at the end of the day.

There are 24 teams in the three divisions and like it or not we are back up in the top 8. We were therefore apprehensive going into our first game in Broomfield V Fingallians tonight Saturday 2nd March 2013 especially considering we were without three of our County Players. However the girls put in a brilliant performance and beat a very good Fingallians team by several points to give us a very good start to the Minor League.

John Mangan, Manager of the Scoil Iosa Senior School team was a very interested spectator at the game. Most of the girls are out again on Monday in the Leinster Schools Senior Ladies Football Quarter Final 2013 V Old Bawn S.S. Tallaght in the Thomas Davis Ground in Tallaght. In the Leinster Quarter Finals there are three Dublin Teams, two Kildare teams, and one team each from Meath, Wexford, & Offaly. The game V Old Bawn S.S. is on at 1pm on Monday 4th March 2013 so come out and give our local girls a bit of support. A couple of the Fingallians girls who played against Syls girls today will be playing along side the Malahide girls on Monday.

Ann Uí Mhórdha Bainisteoir Syls Minor Girls has been giving John Mangan a hand out with the Scoil Iosa Team for the past couple of years and the partnership has worked very well. The way this team is playing at the moment whether for Syls. Minors or Scoil Iosa Seniors they must have a very good chance of proceeding further in this Leinster Championship. So let us wish John, Ann and the girls the very best for Monday.
