Minor hurlers return to winning ways

MHC Syls 4-9 Brigids 2-10 Our minor hurlers responded well to their early championship loss against Raheny with a solid win against Brigids on Sunday morning. This result leaves us with a great chance of making the semi finals, provided we win our last group gam against Kilmacud Crokes. We were quick out of the blocks yesterday with early points from James O'Callaghan, Andy Smith and a long range effort from Stephen Keogh giving us an early cushion.

From there we missed a number of excellent scoring chances and it wasn't until we got 2 quick goals just before the break that the scoreline finally reflected our dominance. Leading by 8 points at the break, we closed out the game in the second half but not without a couple of nervy moments. Overall, a good win but with plenty of work still to do.

Best for Syls were Oisin Klinkenberg in defence, while Conor Meaney and Stephen Cunningham in midfield both worked tirelessly for 60 minutes. Scorers: James O'Callaghan 2-2, Sean Kane 2-1, Conor Meaney 0-3, Barry Grimes 0-1, Andy Smith 0-1, Stephen Keogh 0-1.
