Minors in Championship Final

MFC A SF St Vincents 1-04 St Sylvesters 1-08 Yet again a big second half display secured our first A Minor appearance in over ten years. We started very nervously and found it hard to get a rhythm. Vincents seemed to move the ball quicker and their forward line were more effective off minimal supply opening us up for a goal and a couple of points while at the other end it took one of the best strikes of the year by Dave Sexton to keep us in touch. A great touch over by keeper Eoin O'Byrne just at the break kept us alive for sure. 1-03 to 0-03 at the break. Tks to Grainne McKinney for the pictures.

Against the wind in the second half we again got a better grip of the middle and half back line. Jack Hazely was magnificent in the middle, catching, driving forward and popping up all over the field. We laboured to score for about 15 minutes then Mark Hazely hit a beauty followed by another by Dave I think. Conor Ryan was getting more space at wing back and when he broke a tackle and shot for goal we benefited from a mis handle by the keeper to scrape a goal. We never looked back, the two Hazelys tormenting Vinnies, up front, Conor Quinn and Eoin Hammill very tight, Alan Kavanagh and Kevin O'Flynn holding their line under pressure. Dylan Connolly pointed a free to keep us four ahead.
