Minors qualify for C'ship Semi
MFC A SF St Sylvesters 1-11 Castlenock 0-06 A convincing win in the end but we had to fight hard against a plucky Castlenock who really took the game to us in the first half and led 0-06 to 0-04 at the break thanks mostly to some fine point scoring by their 10 and 14. Scooby and Jack upped their game after the break however and with a cold wind in our back we pinned Castlenock down and slowly but surely picked off our points.

I think pretty much all our scores came from the full line of Mark Hazely, Dave Sexton and a very lively Colm Byrne. It was Collies movement and pass across the square to set up Dave for a punched goal that closed the game out. The half line of Simon Owens, Darra and Alan Kavanagh had to work really hard against good opposition.
Kevin O'Flynn marshalled his backline well, Conor Ryan went into a marking role, Eoin Hamill was the spare man for most of the second half and swept up a lot of breaks, Conor Quinn and Conor Mullarkey settled after a tricky start.
Semi Final next Sunday I believe.
