Never say die saves the Minor As - Bs win at Vincents - Junior Hurlers draw also

A late late goal from Mark Woods saved a draw in the Minor A round robin against old rivals Ballyboden.

JHC D q/f Brendans 1-11 Syls 1-11.

MFC A2 Syls A 1-5 Ballyboden A 0-8.

MFC F2 Vincents B 1-6 Syls B 2-10.

The Minor A gave was a close affair, strong defense on both sides and pretty much all the football played in the middle third in the first half. Syls started well around the middle with Fionn Carney, Mark Maher and Max Cassidy dominating but we only got two points for our effort and Boden got on top for the second quarter. Gary Sweeney got two points on the run and missed a golden goal chance just before the break to leave it 0-3 each at half time. We traded points, nice effort from Gavin McArdle, before Boden took over for a long period, missed a couple of goaling opportunities but lead by 8 to 4. An Aaron Carney point brought it to 3 before a very decisive move let Woodie in for a goal to level it at the death. I did hang around the Boden end to catch a picture but unfortunately got a little excited - did get the final pass however.

I'm sure we have more in us but a good result and sets us up for a big game against Crokes in two weeks.
