Ormand superb as hurlers win in C'ship
IHC St Sylvesters 2-18 Setanta 1-18 Great champioship game saw Syls edge out a fine Setanta team at Broomfield in front of a pretty good crowd on Saturday. The highlight was surely Martin Ormands super display at full forward, he must have contributed 12 or 13 points from frees and play. Mannix continued his good form of late with an opportunist early goal after the visiting keeper parried a shot but generally we were second best in the first half and were extremely lucky to be level at the break, thanks to poor shooting by Setanta and good shooting by Martin.
Both teams upped their game in the second half but Syls got the scores early, a few Ormande points, an opportunist goal from a busy Tom Reddy and a stronger half forward line with the ever excellent Russy Cleere prominent. Setanta did get back to level at 2-14 to 1-17 with about five minutes remaining but a great long range point from Dave Casey and points from Mannix, Reddy and Donal Hayes closed out a good win.
