"Pull Hard" takes on a new meaning for Syls

Syls Tug of War team did little to distinguish themselves in the competition held as part of the Malahide Has It Festival. The big crowd who gathered on the Green on Sunday expected an experienced 8 to overwhelm the opposition but despite drawing Gilbert & Wrights (whose team included a girl!!-ok she was a 9th person as against our 8) our team, which seemed to contain more brain than brawn, did not get past the first round. Some are blaming the defeat on the management skills or Cathal O’Donnell, others on the coaching of Brendan Carney but those in the know believe that the absence of proper footwear did the damage.
Following the dismal showing it was proposed that the priorities of the club change from trying to win a Senior Football Championship to trying to get over the embarrassment and going all out to win this event next year.  So training every Monday in the gym to build up the muscle followed by Fridays and Saturdays in the Club putting on a different type of muscle mass.

Congratulations to the Rugby Club who defeated Wrights in the Final and so made off with the first prize –a keg of Heineken.
