Recent Deaths Maurdy Mahon & Clemo Michael McGahan

Last week was another sad week for the Club with the deaths of Maurdy Mahon and his uncle Clemo McGahan.

Maurdy who died on Monday 6th April 09  played with us in the late 1970's and early 1980's. He played on the 1st and 2nd teams during this peroid. He was a full forward and liked to model himself on Jimmy Keaveny. I will send a photograph taken from a newspaper cutting of our 2nd team for a game V Skerries in 1978 by seperate mail. The quality is not the best but the players can be identified. I will also send on all names but two which I can not identify.
Maurdy's mother was a McGahan before her marriage. Her brother Clemo died on Friday 10th April 2009. His funeral Mass is in St. Sylvester's Church at 11.00am Tuesday 14th April 2009. Though Clemo does not appear to have played for Syls himself most of his brothers played for the Club and the McGahans and Mahans go back in the Club for generations.
