Scoil Iosa Girls Win Leinster Senior C Final

Congratulations from all in St Sylvester’s to the Scoil Iosa Senior Girls Team on winning the Leinster C Final this afternoon in Newbridge.

Scoil Iosa, Malahide 5-13  Presentation De La Salle, Bagenalstown  4-9

The game was worthy of the occasion and full credit to both sides on serving up a most entertaining contest. The Malahide girls led 1-8 to 2-3 at the break but the Carlow girls fought back strongly in the second half to put the game into 20 minutes extra time. Two quick goals in the final 5 minutes secured the win and put the girls into an All Ireland Semi Final to bring back memories of 2002!

Overall this was a very fine team performance played in difficult underfoot conditions. Team Captain and Player of the Match, Niamh McEvoy accepted the winning trophy on behalf of the team.

Congratulations also to mentor Dermot Washington for having the girls well prepared on the day.

You will see many Syls girls from the squad below – and well done to one and all on getting thus far in the competition.
