Senior footballers lose to Templeogue SS

SFC R1 Templeogue Synge St 1-15 St Sylvesters 2-09 A very disappointing loss in the first round of the championship after a very hot and cold display. We had started well, took a point when a goal was on, a few points then a goal from Darren off a Daly pass and it looked good for us. As usual, not many games are won in the first ten minutes and so it proved yet again.

Synger scraped a point, then another, a couple on the break and and we ended up trailing 1-03 to 0-8 at the half. They came out quicker in the second half and went a few further ahead before we finally got a grip on the game. Newcomer Mark Brennan picket out Conor Daly for a goal, Nigel pointed, Darren pointed and we led by two but again SS came back, county player Dennis Bastik solo through the middle for softish goal, they tacked on two points to win by three.

We certainly lacked the intensity of the game against Parnells two weeks ago. Ross had a towering game in the middle, well supported by Shane and Darren scored 1-8. Micháel missed the game through injury in unfortunate circumstances.  Nice to see Jockser return to the team in the second half.

We have O'Tooles in the repechage in a few weeks.
