Seniors Footballers navigate first hurdle in Championship

SFC 1st Rd St Sylvesters 2-16 Clontarf 3-07 Good game of football without really having the intensity of championship against Div3 Clontarf. With two goals in the first half, one a cracker from new Dubs star Jack McCaffrey, Clontarf put it up to us but we seemed to be able to respond with points from Micháel, Nigel and Mark and still lead 0-10 to 2-01 at the break.

We came out a little quicker in the second half, continued to knock over the points, Eoin Fanning and Eugene Keating joined the fray and both contributed good goals while Fionn Carney (in for the injured Barry Ryan who took a heavy blow) and Declan Rooney seeled things up at the other end.

A word of congratulations to John Jockser Coughlan appointed captain for the season . . . here's hoping it's a good one.
