Seniors look strong in League Semi Final win

AFL1 Semi-Final St Sylvesters 1-12 Ballymun Kickams 0-8 Third time lucky as we reach next Thursday's Senior League Final against St Judes after topping the league in regular seasons again this year. We started a little slowly into a cold wind and were 4-2 down after about 20 minutes, Kickams missing a few opportunities to go further ahead. A long ball nicely fielded by Micháel McCarthy on the edge of the squart was finished to the net and we were on our way. A fabulous point by Russy Cleere (we had a great discussion on his swerving shot which somehow defied the wind) and we went in 1-4 to 0-5 up at the break.

With Jockser and the fit again Shane O'Connor dominant in the middle Michael and Darren tacked on 5 points and we were now cruising. Kickams came back at us, of course, and a strong defense led by the excellent Brian Sexton, steady goal keeping from Robbie Wallace, Cian Cleere was strong around the square, well supported by Fionn and Brian, our wing backs Campers and Gavin were flying all day, Russy covered every blade of grass yet again and Sweeney, Fanning and Eoin Bennis weren't far behind and the ever excellent Darren and Micháel were deadly inside.

There were a lot of lads not available for today and it is testament to our strength at U21 that we could field so strong and have the quality of Adam Keaney, Barry Ryan, Niall Coughlan, Andrew Hartnett and more to bring in.
