SPECIAL K SAVES THE DAY FOR SYLS

A last minute penalty save from keeper Billo Kirrane secured victory for Sylvesters Junior hurlers in their first outing in the 2010 championship. In a pulsating game in St Anne's Park, Syls beat Raheny by a scoreline of 5-10 to 5-07. The lead changed hands every few minutes throughout the game and at one stage in the second half it looked like we were dead and buried.

 Ronan Kennedy and Graeme Morris
hurled well in defence for Syls. Cillian O'Riordan, Jody Hickey and Jonny
Conway provided the goals while Niall O'Connor kept the scoreboard ticking over
with points from placed balls. We were 3 points up going into injury time when
the ref harshly awarded a penalty against Ciaran Murray. Billo, who couldn't be
faulted for any of the goals, proved to be the hero diving to his left to save
the resulting penalty in the dying seconds.
