St Sylvester’s GAA club notes 25th August

There was heartbreak for our Dublin representatives, Sinead Aherne and Niamh McEvoy with Cork coming out on top in the All Ireland semi-final and also for Lucia Hughes with defeat for the Dublin under 16s in the All Ireland final, also to Cork. Congratulations to all for your achievement in representing your county with great distinction at the highest level and there are even better days ahead.

Our adult hurlers lost to Kilmacud Crokes in the league on Saturday evening and the junior hurlers lost to Ballyboden in the championship on Sunday morning. Ballyboden were very sharp and despite our best efforts they ran out comfortable winners.

The under 15 hurlers also lost to Whitehall in the championship on Sunday. We had no answer to the power of this very good Whitehall side who should progress a long way in this competition. We wish them well.

Out intermediate football team play St Brigid’s away next Saturday August 31st at 18.00 in a vital clash for league honours. Please come along and support them. The junior B football team play St Maurs away on Tuesday, August 27th.

Next Friday the club is hosting the FM104 Dub Hub. Well done to Gary Penrose for organising what should be a great event. Come along and get a chance to tackle the “Bomber” Liston in person.

The Golf Classic takes place on Thursday September 5th in Malahide Golf Club. Please support this superb event.
