St Sylvester’s GAA club notes 3rd February

Minor A championship final St Sylvester’s 0-8 Kilmacud Crokes 0-10 It was almost the perfect comeback but time ran out. When we did cut loose we fizzed and played some fine football. The great effort and determination that went into this campaign meant that the loss was keenly felt. The journey is the reward and the journey goes on with the future of the club safe in the hands of these great players. It was a proud day for the club

St Vincent de Paul Cup Final 2012, Ballymun Kickams 0-14 St Sylvesters 1-12

What a great start to the year, a cup final victory over the current Dublin and Leinster champions. This was well deserved after the two heartbreaking single score defeats in the vital matches last year, two defeats but not defeated. Well done Gabriel and all involved for your perseverance.

The Bank of Ireland sponsored annual awards night on Saturday was a fantastic occasion highlighting the many and varied successes in 2012. The players who were nominated and the award winners were celebrated in a stunning presentation by John Keenan. Darragh O’Sé spoke eloquently about his west Kerry roots. John “Skinner” Ryan received the Hall of Fame award to a rapturous reception and John Comey received the Clubman of the Year award for his unstinting contribution over many years. We are standing on their shoulders. Míle buíochas.
