St Sylvesters GAA Club notes 17th February

The seniors continued on from their Vincent De Paul cup final victory over All Ireland finalists Ballymun with another cup victory over St Maurs. They play Oliver Plunketts away next Sunday at 11.00 am in the league. The intermediate football team play Whitehall at home in their opening league match at the same time.

MFL1 St Sylvester’s 0-9 Kilmacud Crokes 1-5

This year’s minor football team played Kilmacud Crokes two weeks after the 2012 team lost the championship final to the same opposition. We made a very good point by winning this one and the point that won the match by Darragh (Maurice Fitzgerald) Walsh was worthy of winning any match. It was great to see a full “melee” of mentors on the sideline willing to take up the challenge again this year. Well done to everyone involved.

Other fixtures next Sunday Feb 24th are:

AFL6 St James Gaels V St Sylvester’s in the Iveagh Grounds, at 11.00am

AFL9 St Sylvesters V Ma Gaeil Oga 1 in Broomfield, at 15.00

Minor Hurling Div 2 Ballinteer V St Sylvesters in Marley Park, at 11.00am

Hearty congratulations to Ballymun on reaching the All Ireland Final with their superb win over Crokes.

Friday March 1st Gary O Brien, Ireland’s top tipster, will pick the winner of the fantastic prize of the trip to Cheltenham in the club. Please support club development by supporting this great fundraiser and come along.
