St Sylvesters U11's begin challenge matches in preparation for next Season

St Sylvesters U11's had a marvellous turnout last Saturday when 36 players togged out for two matches vs Raheny U11's at Bridgefield. After discussions amongst mentors in both camps we decided to expand the pitches and host two 15- a-side matches as all these lads move to 13-a-side next season and to give as many players an opportunity to get as much game time as possible.

The A team got off to a slow start but then midfield began to dominate and turned in an impressive performance to win well in the end which augers well for next season against a Raheny team who performed extremely well in Div 1 last year. The B team played a game of two halves and were winning well with the breeze in the first half only to lose momentum in the second half and leaked a few soft goals towards the end. All of these lads are developing well and improve every time we play so keep it up lads.

All in all a very enjoyable morning in late November (considering this time last year we were knee deep in slow). A further match is planned for this Saturday vs Skerries as we continue to take advantage of the favourable weather conditions in preparation for next years U12 league which begins at the end of January 2012.

Important to note that 6 other players unfortunately couldn't make it so we are looking good for numbers for next Season. Well done to everyone- mentors and players.
