st sylvesters v aghamore gaa club co.mayo

On Sunday 29th april St Sylvesters welcomed aghamore gaa club, yes i hear you say aghamore!!!!even google found this hard to find. Aghamore is a small town in Co.Mayo with a proud history behind it,and even once graced the skills of our own infamous Sir John Cox(on speaking to the men involved in aghamore they say he was a mighty player and the legend is still talked about).

It was John Cox and another belmullet man John Maughan who put this all together inviting them to a match before they headed into Croke park to watch Mayo v Cork. Both clubs fielded three teams 2 under 12s and one under 14s and in hard sometimes gale force winds Syls came out winners in all three matches. I think a bit of coach lag (, its the same as jet lag but on a coach.) might of got to the men of Aghamore.

After the matches we headed back to the club house to a banquet of sandwiches and cakes fit for a king, and with that Aghamore headed back onto the coach to Croke Park where unfortunately Mayo lost to Cork. Many thanks to all involved and to the ladies and gentlemen who made the sandwiches and cakes.
