Super Syls Girls Reach Championship Final

Our adult girls team put in a super performance last night against Thomas Davis, at Kiltipper Road, to reach the championship semi-final. Clashes with the Davis girls are always tough and this one was no different, but the girls put in a serious shift to edge out their opponents. We started well, building up a 3 point lead, but Davis came back at us to get within 1 point after 15 minutes. Aimee, Louise and Sinead T dominated at midfield and gave us a great platform to attack their goal. Sinead Aherne knocked in a goal with one of her cool trademark finishes followed up by 2 more points to give us a 1-5 to 0-3 lead at the break.
After the break the girls got stuck into the task again with some very tough defending and great feeds to the forward line. We never stopped the high tempo right across the pitch and never let our opponents settle. Although we conceded a goal mid way through the half, we hit back through another from Sinead and points from Mel and Carol to win the game by 2-9 to 1-8.

We now have a great mix of experience and youth throughout the team and what was most satisfying was the performances of our younger girls, the Lynch sisters, Louise Ryan, Lucia Hughes, Niamh Harney and Leah Harold with lots more to come up through the ranks over the coming years. The future looks good for Syls girls.

We now play St Maurs in the final in 2 weeks time. Details of this to follow.
