Syls Battle hard to earn a win.

U16A Div2 Football, St Sylvesters 3-11 Fingallians 3-10. Thursday evening saw another excellent performance by the U16A Football team at Bridgefield. Syls showed their intentions by coming out of the blocks scoring 4 quick points at the start of the match, only to see Fingallians come back with 3 points without reply followed by a goal putting Fingallians in front. Syls fought back getting back on top, only just and at half time the teams were fairly evenly matched.

Adam Goodman worked well in front scoring 3-2, while Dylan Connolly showed his prowess with the boot scoring 6 well placed frees. Daniel Colclough had a very good game and was popping up everywhere and winning great ball.

With less than 10 minutes to go Syls went 4 points up and things looked a little comfortable, only for Fingallians to up their game and score a brilliant goal. In the last stretch there was never more than a point or two between the teams. The excitement and tension was high as we willed our players on watching them take a couple of wayward shots adding to the tension. In the end with the points being exchanged we came out on top winning by a solitary point.

This leaves us 3rd in the league only 2 points behind Scoil Ui Chonaill and Lucan Sarsfields A.
