Syls celebrate 2012 in style

Another great night out at The Grand from Eddie, Francine, Aileen, John, Ger and many more. Gareth O'Connor compeered while Darragh O'Sé regaled us with his Gaeltacht, Kerry and Paudi stories (it was like listening to a poet, his West Kerry lilt, what a lovely self effacing guy). John 'Skinner' Ryan took the Hall of Fame award - why did they call you 'skinner' - "sure, there wasn't a pick on me" while John 'Daly' Comey, a self proclaimed "Man they couldn't hang, his neck was too hard", took the Clubman of the Year award, both to standing ovations.

See Chairman Eddie Sullivan's address here.

Ross Hazely was a popular Footballer of the Year, Glenn made it a Hazely double with the Young Footballer award, Russy Cleere took the hurling award to keep a bit of balance down Kinsealy Lane. Niamh McEvoy and Emer Tracy took ladies awards - what's the plan for 2013 Niamh? . . 'oh, to win an All Ireland medal' says she, nothing less, we like your style.

Nice that Ronnie Carroll from Oasis, Seamus McCann, DAA could join us and we really appreciate their sponsorship and great support. Tommy Naughton was another special guest and it was a treat to chat with him.

I was a great night out and thanks and well done again to Eddie Sullivan and his hard working committee and to all who helped Francine and Aileen with the preparations.
