SYLS GIRLS BEAT RAHENY IN LEAGUE

The adult girls team avenged last seasons championship final defeat with a great win against Raheny, in the Intermediate League, on Wednesday night in Broomfield. After the exam break, the girls took little time to get into their stride, with some fine scores from Nicole, Diane, Niamh Lawlor, Orlaith and Sinead. However Raheny got back in the game through some fine points from their new county star Siobhain Woods as our defence were put to the test on a number of occasions.
Amy was shown a yellow for an unlucky tangle with a Raheny player and was shown the line for 10 minutes in the sin bin. Lisa Mc pulled off some crucial saves in goal as we soaked up the Raheny pressure before Nicole finished off 2 quick goals after some slick moves. We got to the break with a healthy 7 points lead.
In the second half against the breeze we got 2 cracking points early on from Sinead Aherne and Sinead Tracey. We got to grips with play in the middle before Niamh Lawlor & Sinead got 2 more super goals to put us out of sight. A great team performance from everyone and gives the girls great confidence before their championship semi-final in a few weeks time.
Final score: St Sylvester's 7-12, Raheny 1-16
The juvenile girls are now on their summer break and will resume training in August for the championship campaigns in September. Well done to all the girls teams on their great league performances.
