Syls Ladies win Top of the Table Clash
Syls Ladies traveled to Leinster Road in Rathmines on Wednesday evening to take on Portobello. Both teams were unbeaten in the league so far and this was going to be a tough battle on a tight and bumpy pitch.
Hero of the night Lisa McIntyre in goals saved
three early goal chances for the home side as early nerves resulted in a shaky
start for the syls girls. However they soon got into their rhythm with some
fine scores from Sinead, Katie, Niamh Mc & Nicole. Our half-back
line of Niamh Lawlor, Mel & Michelle started to cut out the supply
line to the Portobello forwards and we took a 7 point lead into the
break.
In the second half the girls really upped the
pace with some super passing moves. Eimear Hughes, Yasmin, Katie and Diane
picked off some lovely scores before Niamh Mc, Nicole and Sinead struck
three super goals to finish the game off. Finals score was Portobello 1-13 St
Sylvester's 5-21.
Top of the league before going into the
championship in two weeks time - not a bad start for their first season
back.
Well done girls - a real team effort.
