Following our successful trip to Croke Park in March (see the pictures here) , we are arranging another venture, this time to the theatre. We have made arrangements to go and see Dublin's most famous play The Plough and the Stars, by Sean O'Casey as produced by the Abbey Theatre. The Abbey Theatre itself is closed for renovations at present and this play is showing in The O’Reilly Theatre, Great Denmark Street, beside Belvedere College.

GAA’s social initiative

Following our successful trip to Croke Park in March (see the pictures here) , we are arranging another venture, this time to the theatre. We have made arrangements to go and see Dublin's most famous play

The Plough and the Stars, by Sean O'Casey

as produced by the Abbey Theatre. The Abbey Theatre itself is closed for renovations at present and this play is showing in The O’Reilly Theatre, Great Denmark Street, beside Belvedere College.

The Plough and the Stars is all about the responses of ordinary Dubs to the happenings surrounding the rising of 1916. It was somewhat controversial when it was first produced in 1926 but the passage of time has shown it to be a fairly accurate account of how different people react to different things in different circumstances.

We have made a provisional booking of a block of seats for a matinee performance on Saturday, September 15th at 2.30pm. The overall cost will be €13 per head. You are welcome to bring along your spouse / partner / friends. Non-members are very welcome.

We have booked 54 tickets at €13 and if we need to increase that number the cost may rise for late bookings to €15 or €17. We need to confirm the booking with the Abbey by September 1st. So please book early.

We will organise transport to and from the play and there will be snacks and music in the Club afterwards. We will be leaving the club by coach at 1.30pm on Saturday September 15th. The play starts at 2.30pm and we will be returning back to the club at approximately 6.30pm.

If you want to go on this outing, please contact one of us; see contact details below.

Yours sincerely
