Syls U14 Girls start League Campaign With a Victory

The U/14 girls took the short trip to Fingallians on Sunday afternoon to kick-start their league campaign and came away with a very satisfying win. This was a really close battle from start to finish with both sides exchanging early scores. After a shaky start, the girls got their rhythm going with the half-back line of Lucia Huges,

Helen O'Dea & Emma Lynch driving the team forward. Points from Roisin Rainey and Emma Sullivan kept Syls well in the contest and we shared the spoils at 3 points a piece at the break.
The second half continued to be very tight, but the scoring remained low. Fingallians entered the last five minutes ahead by 7 points to 4, but the girls never say die attitude saw them close the gap with a well finished goal by Rainey. With time running out, super sub, Rachel Dempsey kept her cool to pop the ball over the bar for the winning point and ensured a winning start to the new campaign.
Well done to all involved.
