The Champs of 2008 (Ballyboden) weighed in as the heavyweights in this contest.
Syls
started with the wind in their sails and landed some beautiful early
jabs. The sweet science of passing produced some classy points and one
slick five man move landed an uppercut of a goal just before the bell
for half-time.
The sideline judges had a 1-9 to 0-1 point half time score.
Boden put us straight up against the ropes at the restart and kept us there. They landed 6 straight points and were closing in for the knockout. Our defence during this period was brilliant and the Champs were earning everything they got. Heart and the art of defending proved to be a powerful combination.
Our only score of the second half was a well taken goal and just reward for a game challenger. Boden replied with a goal to prove their pedigree which is such that no one can remember the last time they lost.
Every Syls player punched above his weight today. Every parent can be proud. For Dave McBride and Fergus Byrne the quality of the football in this performance was a bit special and just reward. Enjoy everyone, you earned it.
