The Cleere brothers - as good as any that played the game

For the first time in almost 13 years St Sylvesters senior footballers will take the field without at least one of the Cleeres in the blue. Three of the lads captained Dublin at minor or U21 and all four played for Syls seniors between 2007 and 2010. In 50 years watching Gaelic Football I have never seen a bunch of lads play the game so fair, hit so hard and never ever utter a bad word, quite amazing, and an honour for Syls to have them wear the blue and green.

Aido asked me to post a note but it would be impossible for me to do justice to Airy, Nicky, Cian and Russy . . .Aido or Patjo or one of the lads will have to do the honours.

My only disappointment was last year meeting Russy outside O'Moore Park when Dublin were facing Kilkenny . . . I would have loved to see him hurl the Cats that day.

It's great to see Nicky out coaching with the Minors so we still one of the lads involved.

Cian and Russy headed off these last few weeks while Airy went a while back. We wish them the very best in their new endeavors and maybe we will see them play for Syls again in the future.
