Our U10 hurlers, desperate for a match travelled to Ballybodens all weather pitch on Saturday to play Whitehall . We played 2 matches, winning one well and losing a tight second game. In the first match Star full forward Eoin Buckley had 5-1 to his name before half time with Tom Hogan, Jack Boyne and Ollie Twomey also showing well. Daragh McLoughney was his usual strong presence, Conor Hoyne and Daire de Burca continue to impress. Euan Farquarson stepped up to this team seamlessly and looks a great prospect.
In the second match Aaron Lambe-Callaghan scored a first half point that would have graced any game, Tom Bennett was perpetual motion and tightly marked the Whitehall dangerman giving away nothing while Krishna Joyce defended stroutly and strongly. Stephen Brady went close a couple of times, Killian Bousfield was unlucky not to put us ahead but we turned level. Despite owning the ball in the second half and David Deneher, showing no handicap with a sprained thumb dominating possession we could not score until Conor O’Brien crashed a penalty to the net and when Matthew Brenner poached another we were looking strong. Whitehall came back at us and just about deserved their victory.

Well done to all who travelled, we had a number of absentees due to the mid term break but to get a game was fantastic. Thanks again to all the parents who came over and supported us. While continuing with training Tuesday and Wednesday we also have 2 special events in March. On the 13th we are travelling to play Hurling and football against Glyne-Barntown in Wexford and going on to the National Hurling League match after while on the 25th our Parents Group have organized a table quiz to raise funds for the team, €10 a head and all welcome.
