U11 very busy these days

The U11 footballers continued their good form of late with 2 wins over Skerries in Bridgefield on Saturday. Our 3rd team had a bye so we had almost 30 players despite the numerous absences for Communions but we managed to give all a decent run and take the points.

The A footballers had played Skerries in the opening match of the season out in Townparks so we knew what to expect from them, they are a good, tough, skilful side who could trouble us but, while they got the opening score of the game, once we clicked in to gear we played some lovely football and ran out comfortable enough winners in the end. While it was a good win, there were definitely some areas that need to be worked on in training, we gave away a lot of soft frees and kicked some poor wides.

The B football team had a real ding dong battle on the top pitch and scored a late point to snatch the victory by 1-8 to 2-4. The B team has no little skill and show a great ability to battle right to the end, winning games they should not.

It was a busy week for many of the players with a number of the panel lining out for Oliver Plunketts in the Cumann na mBunscoil Final on Tuesday, the Mini All Irelands on Thursday and the Community Games Hurling on Friday. On top of that 3 Syls U11s medalled in the Community Games Long Puck on Sunday (1. Conor Hoyne 2. David Deneher 3. Niall Smyth).

It promises to be another busy week with hurling training Tuesday, Mini Leagues and Cumann na mBunscoil senior football finals for both Oliies and JP2 on Thursday, u11 hurling Division 1 at home to Ballyboden A on Saturday morning and finally the Mini All Ireland Finals on Sunday. Plenty of GAA activity for these young lads!
