U12 Football 8 Matches in 7 days

Fresh from their trip to Ardara, the U12 footballers were straight back in to League action with a bang. Not only had we our normal 4 matches but we also had the 4 that had been rearranged due to the Donegal trip.

The B team were first up with a trip out to Garristown and while they were unbeaten going in to this match, Garristowns results showed them to be a particularly strong opponent on their home ground. Going in to the last few minutes we trailed after a hard fought battle but we kept on going and ran out winners b a couple of points over a very big and physical side.

The A’s and D’s both had matches against Na Fianna, the A team were away while the D’s were in Bridgefield. Na Fianna A’s have improved hugely this year and having drawn with them in the earlier grading league while missing a few players, we knew this would be a tight game. However, despite a few wides, we got on top early and ran out fairly convincing winners 5-15 to 3-5.

The D’s despite a bright start and being only a couple of points behind at half time, ran out of steam and were beaten.

The unbeaten C’s were next up in a top of the table clash against St Vincents and what a contest it turned in to. A couple of early goals got us settled but when we had a man harshly red carded after only 10 minutes it looked ominous as Vincents got the next few scores. But this team knows how to dig deep and showing a lot of skill they took the game to their opponents. So much so that at times it looked like we had the extra man. In the end we ran out 2 point winners and maintained our record.

On to Saturday and 4 Syls U12 teams took the field simultaneously in 3 different locations. The A’s played really well to run out 7-09 to 2-04 winners over O’Tooles in Bridgefield, the B’s faced the other unbeaten team in their League –Erins Isles A and going toe to toe with them for 50 minutes ran out convincing winners by 6-09 to 3-01. The C’s travelled down to Clontarf Road to play Scoil Ui Conaill B’s. Unfortunately Scoils A match was called off and that had a big impact on proceedings, our team going down by 12-09 to 9-06. The lads were gutted after the game but gave everything they had, giving Scoils division 2 team a scare. The D’s motored out to Balbriggan to play league leaders O’Dwyers and with a lot of lads away on holidays they never got going and were soundly beaten.

So concludes the first part of the league, going in to the mid-season break we have 3 games left and our A’s are second in Division 1, our B’s top of Division 3 and our C’s top of Division 5. We are going well and all the players have developed over the last few months.
