U12s off to good start, mixed results U14

The U12A footballers had a excellent win over the very strong Na Fianna. The U14A team, operating in Division2 for the first had an easy win over Ballymun Kickams while the U14B team had a tough outing down at O'Tooles, losing by a few goals. I'll add the other reqults or reports if they arrive.

The U12 footballers had their first “A” Cup match of the new season away to Na Fianna’s 1st team early on Saturday morning. Following a heavy overnight frost the ground was still hard in places for much of the match.

Sylvesters played into a light breeze in the first half, during which Na Fianna had more possession and will have regrets about shooting quite a few wides.

After a tough opening 15 minutes, our backs started getting on top and we had commanding displays from Christian Doyle, Philip Ryan and Eoin Cooney.

The forward kept plugging away and we got scores from Alex Wright and Bryn Redmond. At half time Sylvesters where fortunate to lead by a point –

3-03 to 3-02.

In the second half Sylvesters took control of midfield with great displays of athleticism by Mark McCormack and Eamon McLoughney. Daniel Murphy’s kickouts where perfectly placed and varied. Niall McCann, Mikey Meaney and Eoin Ryan had a vice like grip on their opponents whilst up front, the spectators where treated to a display of point scoring from Luke Troy, Jamie Kennedy and Sean Drumm.

Final Score:       St Sylvesters 4-11;         Na Fianna 3-03:

Daniel Murphy (Team Captian), Christian Doyle, Philip Ryan, Eoin Cooney, Niall McCann, Mikey Meaney, Eoin Ryan, Mark McCormack, Eamon McLoughney, Luke Troy, Jamie Kennedy, Bryn Redmond, Sean Drumm, Alex Wright.
