U13s kick off their season in style

Impressive win for U13 A Team as Grading league kicks off – Naomh Olafs 2g 4p Syls 3g 17p The U 13 A team had a comprehensive win over Nh Olafs in their first grading match of the season. The lads racked up an impressive scoreline of 3 g 17p

Sys rattled off 9 points without reply in the first 15 minutes with scores coming right across the team from Gavin Hydes, Jack Boyne, Eoghan Buckley, Alan Byrne, David O' Halloran and Liam Shalloe. Dara McLoughney provided excellent link up play and the team were very strong defensively with Harry Barnes and Josh Reinhardt storming out of defence on numerous occasions to clear their lines and provide the platform for the rest of the team. David o’Halloran did well in his “promotion” from the half back line to partner with Alan Byrne in midfield for the day.

Conor Hoyne kept a close eye on his man at corner back and didn't give him an inch while Luca Immick in the other corner was inspirational with his tenacious defending. Olafs got a goal against the run of play but shortly afterwords David McCormack burst through to fire a goal into the top corner to bring Syls up to 1g 13p scoreline at halftime.

The lads continued where they left off in the first half with further scores across the team while Gavin Hydes continued where he left off in the first half and netted again for Syls. Luke Peyton and Sean O'Donnell made some excellent interceptions throughout the game and Matthew Norris was very solid in goals with some excellent distribution from kick outs.

All in all, a very successful afternoon on the south side albeit a little bit windy in the McCormack bus on the way home over the M50 - when the beeping starts then stop reversing – less said the better!

Finally a big thank to the U12 lads (Jack, Dara, Eoghan and Conor) for assisting us in fielding a team - you acquitted yourselves very well at this level even after a two hour training session that morning with Pat, Eoin, Ernie and Jimmy

Keith to follow with a report on the U13 Bs.
