U14's topple Feile Champions Ballyboden

Congratulations to Ballyboden St Endas winning both Football and Hurling Feiles - a magnificent achievement. Syls under 14s got back to winning ways on Thursday evening against feile champions ballyboden st endas, with a lot of injuries and the first year exams up and running we were down to the bare bones numbers wise, we had 16 players on the night but every one of them played their heart out.

Things started poorly as a mistake in the back line let ballyboden in for a soft goal, Harry Barnes found Dennis o Brien with the resulting kickout and he fed Daniel Brennan who kicked a great point from 35 yards out, however within a minute syls found themselves 2-0 to 0-1 down when a sideline kick wasn't dealt with and ballyboden were allowed in for another soft goal.

From this moment on Sylvesters took complete control of the match, with the butler twins and Ben o Neill cleaning every ball out of the full back line it enabled the half back line of Rian Mcarthy Mikey Dowling and Dennis o Brien to move forward and support a potent attack, Marcus young who had snuck away from his studies to come out and play continued his blistering form since his move to midfield, Osian Dullaghan got through a huge amount of work in midfield and this allowed a massive amount of possession into a forward line that had Daniel Brennan, Sean daly and Aj McCabe in great form

And the ballyboden defence were simply unable to handle them.

With josh Reinhardt winning every ball that came his way and Luke Hughes driving at the heart of ballybodens defence at every opportunity the writing was on wall for a shell shocked Boden team, any time Boden managed to win a ball they had the waspish Colm Casey nipping at their heels which gave the defence a chance to regroup.

Syls turned at half time leading by 7 on a score line of 3-5 to 2-1. Having played with the aid of a stiff breeze the syls lads knew there was still a tough half hour ahead of them, but if anything they upped their performance in the second half and moved further ahead with another goal in the second half. Daniel Brennan was unlucky not to have had a penalty and when Boden came down the pitch and got a penalty of their own this kick was always going to be a turning point, and so it proved, Harry Barnes pulled off a super save to keep a 6 point lead, syls almost immediately went up the pitch and more or less put the game to bed with a wall taken goal, bobby Mcarthy came on to give Colm Casey a well earned rest and bobby took up where caso had left off  syls didn't take their foot off the pedal however and went on to run out comfortable enough winners on a score line of 5-9 to 3-3. On a night where the whole squad gave their all special mention goes to Dennis o Brien, Marcus young Osian Dullaghan and Daniel Brennan who layed the foundations for a great team performance.
