U15 footballers win in the championship

The Under 15 footballers produced probably their best performance of the season when it mattered most in accounting for Lucan Sarsfields on a scoreline of 9-10 to 4-4 in the quarter-final of the C championship. Senan McNulty and Seán Foley were in great form and built on the platform established by centrefielders Eoin Cooney and Max Sheridan (on loan from the U14s) to guide Syls into the semi-finals.
Shane Cronin was his usual, calm self as epitomised by his first-half goal from the penalty spot and the defence was well marshalled by Ben Ryder. Goalkeeper Evan Reid’s accurate kickouts proved to be the launchpad for many an attack.

The team would like to wish mentor Paul O’Toole a swift recovery. Paul missed the match due to picking up a rib injury in winning his Whitecollar Boxing bout in the fundraiser on Friday night. Beyond the call of duty, we say! Hed'll be back for the semi-final.
