U16s battle hard but just miss out

U16F A Championship St Sylvesters 0-12 Cuala 1-14. A great second half performance, the ball bounced around the Cuala square a few times but we just didn't get the break after battling back to three points. Cuala got an early jump leading 1-4 to 0-1 before we settled and it proved just too much for us to overcome but congrats to Archie and Peter and the lads, it was a great effort.

U16A Championship St Sylvesters 0-12 Cuala 1-14.

The Syls U16A team bowed out of the championship today in a very hard fought and tough battle against first division opponents Cuala at Bridgefield.

In the first half Cuala dominated the play and really kept much of the play at the wrong end of the pitch for us. The story changed in the second half when Syls players showed some of the way they played last week and played hard going for everything, and it showed as we began pulling back the deficit, but unfortunately we were just unable to do enough to win the game.

At times it looked like Paidi White and Eoin Kirwin were everywhere, and that determination filtered through to the whole team. Dylan Connolly showed his accuracy scoring no less than 8 free’s.

I am sure the players, as would Archie and Peter appreciate the word of thanks from the Cuala Mentor after the game, especially his recognition that we are a team that are well able to be playing in the first division.

We have got to say well done to Cuala on a good win today and good luck as they move forward in the Championship.
