Syls 1-11, Finbars 2-7

A solid start to the year for our Under 16s, against a spirited Finbars side. Foundations for the win were laid in defence which was ably marshaled through the middle by Stephen Keogh at Full back and Gareth McGrath at number 6. Elsewhere, corner backs Eamonn McIlgorm and Conor Ryan were immense throughout. We took a while to find our feet in the first half, with our first score from play coming from James O'Callaghan following good work by David Kennedy and Conor Meaney. Meaney was later involved in the score of the match, fielding from a puckout, soloing up the field and pointing off the stick. At half time we led 1-4 to 1-2, with 1-1 coming from impact sub Kevin O'Flynn.

Into the second half, our workrate improved (especially in the forwards) and we took control around the middle of the field with Thomas Richardson and Meaney totally dominant. Going into injury time we led by 5, but a late 1-1 from the Bars left the minimum between the sides at the end.
