U9 football

Our U9 footballers squared up against a very talented St Vincents squad in Malahide Castle last Saturday. All 3 games followed a similar pattern, high energy first half with Syls turning in the lead but running out of steam in the second period as with the bare numbers we could not make any changes. It is to the credit of all players that they kept fighting to the end and this was a performance of much improved attitude with magnificent scores.

In the first game Ronan Furlong in defence was the stand out player, Sean Guidan got his trademark scores, Timmy O’Connor put in so huge hits and David Deneher scored a point which demonstrated that his hands are as quick as his brain.

In the second game Sam McCormack had a standout first half in defence, Conor Hoyne and Euan Farquarson battled hard throughout as did Tom Bennett who made some tremendous blocks. Matthew Copeland and Joaquin Shinbach scored  beautiful points with Matthew Brenner coming up from defence to land a long range score.

In the third game Conor O’Brien continues to play better and better and assisted by Craig McGrattan and Daniel Stone he took the game to Vincents time and again.
