U9 football and hurling news

Syls U9s Hurling match Saturday against St Bridgit’s Meet 10.30 Malahide Castle for 11 AM thrown in The last few weeks have been busy with our scheduled matches and the lads taking part in the mini Leagues and community games which I have to say is going great and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves immensely Now to mention the upcoming Communions a big event for all involved so over the next three Saturdays we will be short on players so please can everyone confirm their availability to either Ronan Adian or myself so that we can establish in advance if we will be in a position to field our teams

Last week we faced Erin’s Isle in hurling and both games were tough we seen an excellent performance from Darragh Fitzpatrick having returned to the team after a short absence Daragh and Ciaran McLoughney put on blistering displays of how ground hurling should be played Sam Daly and Sean Jacksland stood strong in defence and Luke Darcy puck outs were excellent dropping the ball into the oppositions goal mouth feeding Syls hungry forwards Mark Lally played a blinder and notched up a good few scores the other team members were 100% committed and truly a force to reckoned with

Our second match was also a great game and we seen brilliant ground hurling and marking skills from all the lads Luke Carroll and Gavin McCormack in particular Syls players were hungry for the ball and our demonstration of the pick up and into the hand skill were straight out of the text book a top job from Conail Deburca and Ben Mooney Conail scored a smashing goal with a first time pull and rocked the opposition net Syls lads penalised the opposition with every opportunity scoring from all angels Seamus Carey dominated the midfield and kept our forwards busy Daragh Curtin and Mark Kavanagh tested the opposition goalie and were not long about finding the target when full time came Syls emerged the victors so hats off to the lads it was a deserved victory

The improvement in the lads is terrific and now that they are mastering the skills we are looking a strong team developing sure there will be no stopping them so keep on practicing lads
