AHL 8 Update - going well

The Junior B hurling team heads into the 3-week competition break in a healthy state. In the league, we had a good win over promotion rivals Wild Geese on 30th June by 0-17 to 1-10 where Colm O Connor’s 11 points were the winning of the game. Immediately after was another league match on Leinster Hurling final morning against Na Gael Oga out in St Catherine’s Pk when Gary Plunkett, flanked by Kieran Canny gave a great full back display in a 0-11 to 1-4 win with Deccy Markey in good scoring form.

Then there was the ‘F’ Championship win over Erin’s Isle in Broomfield on 14th July when Peter Guyett’s 2-4 was the talking point. Killian Kirrane and Ian Mc Cafferty were superb at no.3 and 6 and Danny Colclough was very effective. Finally on Monday 18th July the lads battled to the end to secure a valuable point against Castleknock on a 1-12 each draw as injuries and holidays were taking their toll. A constant throughout all the games has been the play and leadership of Derek Roche at midfield and on the night, Dylan Redmond showed real skill at wing back and Donal Hayes’ 0-5 was invaluable.    Now it’s the business end of both league and championship, with promises all round of taking training more seriously
