Hi Folks
This is a quick email to update the membership on some recent developments in our facilities program within the Club.

It has been a busy time behind the scenes and we have recently undertaken a number of key projects.

Planning Permission for Floodlights
One of the first actions we took last April when we were elected by the membership, was to apply for planning permission from Fingal County Council to erect floodlights in on our pitches in Broomfield. After a lengthy process I am delighted to announce that in April 2015 we received permission for extra floodlights on our pitches in Broomfield. We are really excited  about this as the possibility of a new floodlight facility will greatly improve our winter training facilities and is a further step in our ultimate development strategy for Broomfield.  The challenge now for St Sylvester’s as a club to ensure we continue the process and raise the funds required and take advantage of this opportunity.

As part of our Long Term Development Strategy we have submitted a detailed Sports  grant application and we will hear shortly if we have been successful, allowing us to begin work as soon as possible. As anyone who has been involved in this process previously knows, it is a very detailed process and even more difficult to predict the outcome but the development committee involved put in a huge amount of work and we will await the outcome before moving on to the next phase.

Ball Wall
The Executive and I have asked the Juvenile Section to take on the responsibility to raise the necessary funds and manage the project to bring the Ball Wall to completion, giving us a second much needed all weather facility. This is a very important new development and the Juvenile Section have done some great work already and are well under way with their planning. Watch out for more communications in relation to this project in the near future.

Clubhouse and Bar Developments
Now the most imminent project happening within our Club and the main reason for this communication. The re-location of our bar and phase 1 of our plans to maximise revenue from our clubhouse to support our games.

Some of you may also may have noticed that we have started the process of moving the club bar and function area to the downstairs front area of the building. It is hoped that this move will allow us to return the bar to profitability, reducing running costs and ultimately creating a better atmosphere and social environment for our members. We have completed most of the required structural work on the Clubhouse project. With the next stage being the bar fit out left to be done. This is quite a big but necessary undertaking for the club.

We have recently taken over the running of the Saturday Market – Sylvesters Market Malahide and all funds generated from Stallholders rents goes directly to fund our games. Please support this market allowing it to grow and  contribute more to the club.

A Call to Arms
The future of St Sylvester’s GAA Club relies on its members and  we are sending out a call for help.

We need any members who have expertise that could help us complete any of these exciting new projects. Volunteer resources are critical and will help us complete the projects quicker and hopefully keep the development costs as low as possible, making our Club more successful.

With this in mind we are sending out an SOS for any suitably qualified tradesmen, members or businesses who would like to contribute their time or donate resources to help complete these club projects.

Specifically we need:
                Electricians                      Plumbers                 Carpenters            Plasterers
                Interior Designer              Painter/Decorators

Also if we have any members who have Project Management experience in a similar type of building project to make contact.

If you can help please contact me at 087 2524902 or email Ciaran.meehan@hp.com

This is a really important project for the club, going forward it will hopefully solve the ongoing issues with the bar profitability and allow us to take full advantage of our facilities. This in turn will help us ultimately provide more resources to the teams and membership.

Yours in Sport,

Ciaran
