Brilliant win for Senior Hurlers

SHC B Gr2 St Sylvesters 3-13 St Kevins 1-11 An outstanding display all through in a very entertaining Senior Hurling Championship game on a beautiful Saturday evening. I think we led all through but never by much against a Kevins team we had never before beaten. Our defense was immense in this one, Anthony makig a string of saves, a young fullback line of Brendán, Conor and Derek Morris putting their bodies on the line several times and never leaving Anthony exposed, Kev Clarke, Dave McElligott ad Daragh equally committed in the half line, McElligott making one particularly brave block late in the game in what many felt was a man of the match performance.

Andrew Richardson and Killian were back to their best in the middle, Andrew finishing off a great solo goal mid second half that put us in control (see Peter's pictures). Simon Owens hit three huge points, all from high catches while Kev O'Flynn hit the first goal after great interplay with Eoin McCarthy who himself is relishing the step up to senior and finished the game very strongly. Collie Byrne was almost flawless from frees and fielded a few puckouts, Barry Kiely also started with a two great catches that yielded scores and Stephen Keogh had one particularly sweet point late on. Martin Ormonde came in lat and finished the last goal and Dave Casey also played a part.

Kev Clarke got a straight red mid second half and it seemed to galvanise our lads as we upped our game for our best performance in a long while.

Thanks to Peter for the pictures and for bringing the U10s along with Willie and Eamonn to support the Seniors . . . always great to see.

All our best wishes go to Dave for his upcoming challenges, we're all rooting for you.
