Championship first round win for U15 footballers.

The U15A footballers secured an impressive 9 point win away to Skerries on Sunday. Skerries finished top of division 2 and we knew that our lads would need to produce a big performance to get past them. Each and every one of the panel stepped up to the challenge. Skerries defended deeply in the first half and were difficult to break down.

The lads showed great patience, worked very hard when they didn't have the ball and took their scores well to lead 0-8 to 0-3 at half time. An early second half goal from David McCormack was quickly matched by a goal from the home team. Skerries began to run at us through the middle as we knew they would. Once our defence got to grips with this, the more open game gave our midfield and forwards the opportunity to push on and finish the game and play some of the best football we have seen from them this year. Four points from Stephen Lowe and a Brian Murray goal were among the second half scores that saw Syls finish 2-15 to 2-6 winners. An away trip to Vincent's in the next round will be another huge test and a commitment to training from all the lads will be essential in the next two weeks. Well done to all and lets keep it going.
