Club position re Bridgefield and Broomfield

Dear Club Members, Further to the Club’s communication on July 5th in regards to proposed Bridgefield Redevelopment I would like to clarify and reassure members about our continued use of Bridgefield. St Sylvesters will continue to have use of 2 pitches after the proposed Development on which our Juvenile teams play. An equivalent large pitch will be retained and will be supplemented with a Go-Games sized pitch. The playing surface of the large pitch will be subject to a badly needed upgrade as part of this programme.

The Club will also be provided with additional pitch area’s  within the Castle and our pitch at the Castle main gates will also see drainage and upgrade works which will result in allowing significant increase usage of this pitch.  The Club is in continued dialogue with Fingal CC on these matters and shall have the  agreed layout of the extra playing area’s finalised in the next week or so.

By working in a constructive manner with Fingal we have reached agreement with them on developing Broomfield into a Club Campus with our taking control of  Pitch 4 (Beside Ball Wall), Pitch 3 (near Dressing Rooms) and the training pitch.  With Fingal’s help we will develop these pitches to allow significantly more usage than present .

Because the significant growth of the Juvenile section, both Boys & Girls, we must start preparing for the increase of teams in the coming years for both their training and playing needs .

By developing Broomfield we shall have those facilities in place.

We propose to hold a communication evening as soon as possible (taking into consideration holidays, etc. no later than early September) with a roll out of a 3/5 year plan for all these developments.

This plan will be ambitious but without ambition we will never move forward as a Club.

To finish I would once again like to reiterate that Juvenile Games will still be extensively played in Bridgefield and will continue to be part of our history and heritage and a place fondly remembered by those who play there.

We now also have the opportunity to create our own piece of history and heritage by developing Broomfield into Club Campus that shall match our playing ambitions and the needs of all our teams.

Should anyone have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me on +353 87 252 4902.

Yours in Sport
