Comeback goes unrewarded in senior league
AFL1 St Sylvesters 1-15 St Vincents 3-16 The game ran away from us in the last five minutes after a brilliant second half performance saw us tied up at 1-15 to 2-12. Syls played three quarters of the game with 14 players after Aiden Lawlor was very unlucky to see two early yellows. Vincents scored a penalty and another goal giving them a nice cushion but we pointed two goal chances, Gary dropping the ball on the crossbar with Michael poised then Nockser blazed over with the goal at his mercy.
We dominated for long periods of the second half but too often picked the wrong option and a lot of good work went unrewarded. Michael goaled off a defensive mistake and we were level going into the last few minutes. Vincents lifted our siege and hit 1-04 without reply.
Glenn an Ross drove us forward in the second half, Gary was again very lively, as was Shane and there was enough good football to keep us encouraged.
