Dublin Ladies win Leinster – Nicole is player of the Match

Dublin Ladies won their fifth Leinster title in a row in style, beating Westmeath comprehensively, 4-21 to 0-7. All three Syls girls, Sinead Aherne, Niamh McEvoy and Nicole Owens, made significant contributions with Nicole winning the Player of the Match trophy on the back of 6 wonderful points from play as well as being involved in several moves that lead to other scores.

Sinead was her usual industrial self, constantly running into good positions and making telling passes or scoring herself.  She scored 1-3, thus sharing the top scorer slot with Nicole and had a hand in several other scores including a classy move that got Lyndsey Davy in on goal.  Niamh did not start from some inexplicable reason, given her fine performance in the previous match against Meath, but came on in the last 15 minutes and made a goal for Carla Rowe with a strong run and a perfect pass that left Carla with just a tap in to score.

Dublin's next outing is Sat Aug 13th in an All Ireland quarter final v Galway.
