Dublin make Ladies semifinal in great tussle with Donegal. Syls girls do well.
Sinead Aherne was top scorer with 1-7 (0-4 frees) and got the TG4 Laoch na hImeartha award. Her goal demonstrated her guile in getting into good positions in front of goal, this time getting the perfect pass from Noelle Healy and then using delightful footwork to beat both full back and keeper allowing her to execute a simple shot to goal.
Niamh McEvoy’s performance was not far behind, she won a lot of ball including a fine catch over the heads of two Donegal full backs which she laid off to Lyndsey Davy giving her an easy point. She made at least 3 scores for other players as well as scoring 2 points herself, the second a fine example of powerful running at the defence followed by an expertly angled shot.
Unfortunately, Nicole Owens had to retire early due to feeling unwell. We wish her a quick return to full fitness in anticipation of the All Ireland semi-final against Mayo in 2 weeks’ time.
Full match report will follow.
