Good win for our girls at Clanna Gael

Senior Ladies Div 2 Cup St. Sylvester’s 1-10, Clanna Gael 1-7.A gritty second half performance earned our Senior Ladies a 3 point win over Clanna Gael at Ringsend on Wednesday night, having been 3 points down at half time. Syls were missing several players but had the benefit of Niamh McEvoy’s considerable presence, getting game time following recovery from injury in preparation for Dublin’s 1st round Leinster Championship this Sunday. Niamh exerted considerable influence around the middle and was in top scoring form, contributing 1-6.

Syl’s were a bit too timid in the first half, allowing themselves to be bossed by the Clanns players. However, a good pep talk at half time ensured a more robust effort in the second half with all fifteen players contributing effectively.

Apart from Niamh, two players who made notable contributions were “emergency” goalkeeper Ali Hamilton whose kickouts proved very effective and Cliona Hamill who dominated at centre back. At the end of the match, the Referee nominated Cliona as Player of the match. Lauren Smith, playing in her first Senior game, made an impressive debut at corner back. But overall it was the all-round team effort that won us this match.

Syl’s Scorers: Niamh McEvoy 1-6, Dannielle Lawless, 0-2, Aobh Hyland 0-1, Lisa Murphy 0‑1
