Hurlers in playoff for AHL5

AHL6: (S/F Promotion Playoff) Realt Dearg 1-8 Syls 2-12 Sun 8th Nov 2015 Drimnagh. In dreadfully wet and windy conditions, Syls coped the better, coupled with a solid performance throughout the game gave us a well-deserved win. Eoin Kennedy delivered a very consistent effort throughout, picking off 2 points in each half. Sean Graham wreaked havoc, especially in the first half, scoring 3 points, setting up Martin Ormond for the goal and only an excellent save denied him another goal. His touch and control was outrageous considering the conditions.

Pat Hoyne's distribution was excellent and Paul Christies pace was causing problems also.

So after 25 minutes, Syls were comfortably ahead by 2-6 to 0-4 but Realt had their purple patch scoring 1-2 without reply leaving just 3 points in it at HT.

Realt hit 2 early frees to narrow the gap to 1 point but that was their last score. As conditions worsened, scores were at a premium, however Martin Ormond got the score board moving again with a point and a 65. Daniel Murphy who debuted for the Seniors on Saturday, came on and made an immediate impact, slotting over a point from way out on the sideline.
Conor Meaney came on and added serious pace and drive up the middle.
We saw out the last 10 minutes with some very determined defending, well marshalled by Ciaran, Ronan, Des and Padraic.
Sean Foley at wing back was probably the pick of the defenders, containing the very lively Realt no10, likewise Mikey on the other wing cleared a lot of ball and besides the Realt goal, we gave a very assured defensive display.

The win sees us through to the final for a promotion playoff with Whitehall in 2 week time.
