Hurlers run into strong Na Fianna

AHL2 St Sylvesters 1-15 Na Fianna 0-21 A late goal made the scoreline more respectable but Na Fianna had opened up a six point lead in the last quarter while playing some of the best hurling I have seen in Broomfield in a while. Up til then we had put up a very game display, recovering from a very slow start to trail by three points facing the wind in the first half, Na Fianna finishing the half with two sweet points.

Dave McElligot and Kev Clark stood out for me in defense, Andrew Richardson was super in the middle and took a lot of punishment for his efforts, Daragh Flaherty hit some great frees but we could not get close enough in the second half ntil almost the last puck.

Like the footballers last night we have cause to be encouraged. I missed the Crumlin game who I heard were a handy but I thought Na Fianna were at a higher standard than most of the teams we have played and we stayed with them for most of the game.

Great to see Fionn and Nockser back in action, I am personally a great fan of the dual player and I would love to see more done to accomodate and protect lads playing football and hurling at a high level.
